Can my Mac run macOS 27 Golden Gate? The full compatibility list

Short answer

Your Mac can run macOS 27 if it has an Apple chip: any M-series Mac, or the MacBook Neo with its A18 Pro. No Intel Mac can run it, even ones from 2020. To check, choose Apple menu › About This Mac and look at the line labelled Chip. If it says Apple M1 or later, you can update. If you see Processor with an Intel name, you can't.

Features that need a newer Mac

  • Siri AI needs M1 or later, or the MacBook Neo. It also depends on your language and region: see how to turn on Siri AI.
  • Siri AI's expressive voices need an M3 or later with at least 12 GB of memory.

If you have an Intel Mac

  • Stay on macOS 26 Tahoe and keep installing its updates, which bring security fixes. See macOS Tahoe 26.7.
  • Tools that force newer macOS onto unsupported Macs, such as OpenCore Legacy Patcher, don't support macOS 27, and the project has said it won't.
